WHICH CAR IS FASTEST?

The career mode of the game leads you to believe that the BMW is the fastest car in the game. It does that by first giving you the car (at the start of the game) and then by taking it away from you in a crooked race and making you work your way through fifteen races in order to reclaim it.

It is a great car and there are some things it does better than any other car in the game. Its ultimate characteristic is its nimbleness and the fact that it is utterly predictable with the rear end. Some of the heavier cars, especially the Ford GT, have a tendency to  "push," or to slide the front tires when turning. The Beamer will turn quicker and more predictably than any other car in the game and a dash of NOS will straighten it out quickly.

But it you get beat by a BMW, he's beating you on handling, not top speed or acceleration.

The fastest car in the game is the Porsche Carrera GT, for all the reasons I've already mentioned. Fitted out with all ultimate parts and all Junkman parts, it will out-accelerate every car in the game and out-turn everything except the BMW. It is, however, a handful to drive and you'll have to spend a lot of time with it to get all it has to give. But if you can handle it, you'll be very hard to beat.

After the Carrera comes the Ford GT. Like the Carrera it will easily run 241 to 241 miles per hour. It's greatest advantage is its stability at high speed. It's easier to hold a line at 200 plus in the GT than in any other car. Its main drawback is that its heavy (bear in mind that I'm talking about its "in-game" characteristics). For that reason it's not a very good car on the city courses. On the highway, though, it's hard to beat.
